Back when I said you were given no leads as to where to go, I wasn't lying. These are the end results of most paths available to the player right now, and in order to progress you have to

img-%20(3).pngimg-%20(4).png
talk to this random NPC in Cerulean. This would make more sense if there was ever a precendent for random NPCs setting flags in Pokemon games, or if this was a typical JRPG, or if we were told to go talk to the NPCs in Kanto to gain access to the rest of the dull and uninteresting content.

img-%20(5).png
This NPC shares my sentiments exactly.

img-%20(6).pngimg-%20(7).png
I generally expect trainers available after the Champion to be around my level.

img-%20(8).png
Also, he just lifted more trainers from VR to put here in case you tried getting cheeky and skipping any. If you did actually battle them, then they just ignore you.

img-%20(9).pngimg-%20(10).png
Are.. are you even trying?

img-%20(11).png
I guess not.

img-%20(12).png
this is not how water maps work

img-%20(13).png
You're not Wally nor Silver. You're the second worst self-insert I've seen.

img-%20(14).png
Remember when the Master Ball was something really special that you only got one of in a game unless you were stupidly lucky?

img-%20(15).pngimg-%20(16).png
Anyway, to progress further into this train wreck, you have to talk to this guy in the southeast corner of New Bark. I know I said I wouldn't harp on the broken English too much, but it really starts to show that it's not Aichiya's native language around this point. I digress though, now we have to travel back to Cerulean since the cape is finally relevant to the game. It's faster to just Fly to Dewford and brave the level 3 Repel-piercing Alices since there's not a warp tile in New Bark.

img-%20(17).png
Also, Johto only exists for the purpose of this sequence. I'm almost relieved.

img-%20(18).pngimg-%20(19).png
After taking a roundabout trip we're allowed to take another roundabout trip.

img-%20(20).png
YOU ARE A SUPER PLAYER!

img-%20(22).pngimg-%20(23).png
Wilds still aren't threatening.

img-%20(24).png
It's not anything like GSC Mt. Silver. This shouldn't surprise you.

img-%20(25).png
The wilds are also lower leveled for some reason.

img-%20(26).pngimg-%20(27).png
steven

img-%20(28).pngimg-%20(29).png
steven no

img-%20(31).pngimg-%20(32).png
steven no what did he do to you

img-%20(33).pngimg-%20(34).pngimg-%20(35).png
img-%20(36).pngimg-%20(37).pngimg-%20(38).png
Last I checked, he was using stuff like Tensoku in the Space Center event. What happened? Did he bump his head and become a Dark trainer instead of a Steel one? Why does he have a Sariel?

img-%20(39).png
Beating him sets more flags and we can now travel to Java,

img-%20(40).pngimg-%20(41).pngimg-%20(42).png
the land of self inserts.

img-%20(43).pngimg-%20(44).pngimg-%20(45).png
At least he chose Brendan for his sprite and not Steven like everybody else does for their inserts.

img-%20(46).png
Also, there's a terrible collection sidequest. I have no idea how to do it and I imagine I'm not going to look forward to it.

img-%20(47).pngimg-%20(48).png
We are now allowed to explore the rest of Kanto. It only took a bunch of side quests to be allowed access to one of the main advertised features!

img-%20(49).png
foe genji's rage is building

img-%20(50).pngimg-%20(51).png
img-%20(52).pngimg-%20(53).png
All of my fanfics are finally coming true.

img-%20(54).pngimg-%20(55).pngimg-%20(56).png
Their team isn't really remarkable aside from the sudden level spike, but I guess that's what most Touhou hacks did in the 1.5 era.

img-%20(57).png
Wait.. Regirock? Is that you?

img-%20(58).png
regirock no come back

regi.gif
regirock i'm so sorry this had to happen to you

img-%20(59).pngimg-%20(60).pngimg-%20(61).png
What's wrong? Was designing a gym too hard?

img-%20(62).pngimg-%20(63).png
img-%20(64).pngimg-%20(65).png
It's nothing interesting. The only thing really worth noting is the Kanto leader teams hold literally nothing but Quick Claws.

img-%20(66).png
i sure love postgame shock wave tms

img-%20(67).pngimg-%20(68).png
Lavender has the magical world-transferring tombstone still, but here it's entirely unimportant.

img-%20(69).png
All it does is take you to a foggy copy of Lavender that's walled off. If you really like Prismrivers you can run into them in the wild here, and as bonus points they pierce Repels.

img-%20(70).png
I hope I don't need to say anything here.

img-%20(71).png
o

img-%20(72).png
ok

img-%20(73).pngimg-%20(74).pngimg-%20(75).png
Uh.. what. What? Nothing about this game makes sense anymore. I'm just going to power through the leaders and stop pretending there's text in this game until it bothers me again.

img-%20(76).png
I don't think placing Safari Zone tiles here was a great idea.

img-%20(77).png
I'm so happy that this cut tree is still here, considering all the other map editing that's been done. May as well have just put fifteen cut trees all in a row here and reward the player with the Rainbowbadge that way.

img-%20(78).pngimg-%20(79).png
this is a grass gym

img-%20(80).pngimg-%20(81).png
img-%20(82).pngimg-%20(83).png
Why is she lower leveled than Surge?

img-%20(84).png
i really love postgame shock wave tms as a reward for beating the grass gym

img-%20(85).png
touhou is an anime

img-%20(86).pngimg-%20(87).png
Why does a random trainer have a LW when the two gym leaders we just battled didn't? It's not like we didn't have to power through an army of them for the League or anything.

img-%20(88).png
Koga's Flannery's Janine's gym is even more obnoxious in WL than other games because now there's zero indication where the invisible walls are.

img-%20(89).pngimg-%20(90).pngimg-%20(91).png
img-%20(92).pngimg-%20(93).png
Her team isn't that interesting, either.

img-%20(94).pngimg-%20(95).png
Another Shock Wave TM. Is this some kind of a joke? We've been rewarded with four of the damn things now, including Wattson's.

img-%20(96).pngimg-%20(97).pngimg-%20(98).png
img-%20(99).pngimg-%20(100).pngimg-%20(101).png
Why two Mokou forms? There's still Yuki, Rin, and Mimi-chan (though admittedly Mimi would probably be the ever-creative banded Explosion).

img-%20(102).png
At least he gives us a Flamethrower TM instead of Shock Wave again. Also, if you think this is going by quickly or anything, it's because it is. There's basically no content left in Kanto that's worth mentioning.

img-%20(103).pngimg-%20(104).pngimg-%20(105).png
Sabrina's gym is still the same warp tile "maze" except the maze is entirely pointless since there's no trainers in her gym.

img-%20(106).pngimg-%20(107).png
img-%20(108).pngimg-%20(109).png
What's an Alice?

img-%20(110).png
Considering we're actually getting non-Shock Wave TMs I imagine somebody else was in charge of this segment.

img-%20(111).png
Oh. I guess I wasn't supposed to beat notBrock and notMisty when I did.

img-%20(113).pngimg-%20(114).png
Let's just skim over that since we've done this before.

img-%20(115).pngimg-%20(116).pngimg-%20(117).png
img-%20(118).pngimg-%20(119).pngimg-%20(120).png
Suddenly, Last Words. I'd be impressed if the team was more than just player characters and a random Yumemi.

img-%20(121).png
Oh boy, sounds like a half-baked Emerald E4 rematch. I can't wait to see what kind of new and creative ways Aichiya found to push the player to their limits!

img-%20(122).png
Hahahaha who am I kidding it's just grinding for double battles.
